Hi! We're settled in our apartment and have had a good first couple of days here in Heidelberg. Our big outing was to Ikea to grab some stuff for the apartment. What's worse than going to Ikea back home.....going here! There were people milling around making it an evening there! Don swore people were buying whole apartments in there on a Monday night. We just wanted to get in and out. No pictures of this adventure since we're trying to forget it. Yesterday I took the train down, at least I think it's down from here, to Stuttgart. I was able to visit the food/markethalle, shopped around, and went to a see a Kirchner, one of my favorite German Expressionist Artists, art exhibit at the museum. I also bought some boots since I've already started wearing my winter clothes here and it's only the beginning of October!
Don is home today since it's a national holiday here. It's Germany Unity Day! It's great having him home but since it's a holiday everything is shut down.
Next stop is Belgium. We leave tomorrow night after Don gets off of work.
There was a huge festival going on in Heidelberg this weekend with bands, bars and food stalls throughout the city.
First Sunday Dinner here cooked by Don :) Salad with blue cheese we brought from Paris, walnuts and apple. Followed by roasted chicken, haricot verts and roasted potatoes.
A fountain in Stuttgart yesterday. The trains were packed since today is a national holiday. In true German fashion, people are making it a 5 day weekend.
